- When you have your niche you need to find keywords. That is what people type into the searchengine. You want your site to appear on top. But how to select the best keywords? Make a list of subjects in your niche and type them into the Google Adwordstool. Find out how many that term is searched on. For sites that have not yet been scoring well try to not go for keywords that are searched on more than say 5000 a month. The reason is competition. You can do a competition quick scan by typing your keyword in Google and looking how many pages appear. If you see less than 7,000 you will have a good chance of getting on top without a lot of backlinking.
- Optimization is crucial. You want to get a good rating from the searchengines. They have a way to calculate the ranking of sites after a keyword is typed in. You have to get your keyword in the title, description, metakeywords and tags.
- Linking is important. You can easily link to the internal pages/posts. Use the keyword in the anchor text (that is the phrase that is visible): example: How To Increase Free WebsiteTraffic. The anchor text is How To increase Free Website Traffic and the link is visible when you hover over it.
- If you want to go for more competitive keywords that get More Website Traffic than you need external links to your site.
